Lessons on Forgiveness

May 28th, 2023

A little while back I came across the most compelling lesson on forgiveness I've stumbled upon so far.

Essentially, the idea is if a bear attacked someone and that if the person were of sound mind, they wouldn't blame the bear for being a bear and realize it is merely their nature to do so when threatened. They would seem kind of crazy to all of a sudden have a vendetta against bears. Perhaps in the future,  they'd be wise to not go near the den of the bear however they probably shouldn't wish any ill thoughts on the bear and the wrongness of its actions.

A lot of my students ask me how I don't get frustrated with the horses I'm working with. It's not that it never happens but when it does, I try to remind myself that the horse is acting like a horse. Having that extra awareness be it with people or horses can help in not taking situations so personally. Instead this perspective allows us to better communicate or break things down to their level of understanding. Or if anything else how to take a step back and leave the situation until more clarity can be given and avoid walking into the den.
